The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has commissioned a 105-bed state-of-the-art Primary Health Centre in Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State.

Represented by Hajiya Nana Kashim Shettima, wife of the Vice President, the First Lady described the project as a bold demonstration of people-centered governance. She noted that the health centre, equipped with over 25 specialised units, a family health department, a fully functional theatre, and emergency response systems, aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which prioritises the health and wellbeing of all Nigerians.

“True progress begins when we treat healthcare not as a privilege but as the right of every citizen,” she said. “This centre is a beacon of hope for mothers, children, the elderly, and the vulnerable in our society.”

Senator Tinubu commended the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, for her leadership and commitment to development, describing the health centre as a testament to responsive governance.

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who also attended the event, praised the LCDA leadership for attracting federal recognition and investment to the grassroots.

“Development is happening at the third tier of government,” he said. “The presence of the First Lady’s delegation here shows the level of trust and respect this council commands. Princess Bada deserves the accolades she’s receiving.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu recalled that the newly commissioned centre marked his third visit to the council under Bada’s administration, noting her consistent performance and delivery of community-impacting projects.

In her welcome address, Mayoress Princess Samiat Bada described the newly commissioned health facility as the largest of its kind in Nigeria, built to rival top-tier private hospitals in both scale and equipment.

“This facility is not a token—it is a fully functional medical institution,” she said. “From a radiology unit with ECG systems to an intensive care unit, family planning clinic, ANC section, and an on-site ambulance bay, every corner is designed for life-saving care.”

She revealed that the health centre, officially named in honour of Senator Oluremi Tinubu, was inspired by her personal admiration for the First Lady’s leadership legacy dating back to her tenure as Lagos First Lady and her time as a Senator.

“I followed your journey long before you became First Lady of Nigeria. You inspired my entry into politics. Today, this project reflects your legacy—not just in name but in substance,” Bada said.

The facility also includes a fully air-conditioned multipurpose hall for medical outreach and staff development, a 24/7 power supply, and modern gynaecological and surgical infrastructure including laser surgery tools, digital monitors, incubators, and electrophoresis machines.

Bada reiterated the council’s commitment to sustaining the Renewed Hope Agenda and the All Progressives Congress (APC) beyond 2027.

“We stood firm in 2023 to deliver victory for our party. With this infrastructure and our continued impact, we are more than ready to lead and serve,” she said.

The commissioning attracted wide praise from residents and political stakeholders, many describing it as a transformational project that sets a new benchmark for healthcare at the local government level.
