Tinubu Hails Senator Gbenga Ashafa at 70

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to Senator Gbenga Ashafa on his 70th birthday, describing the former lawmaker and ex-Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) as a dedicated public servant and a valuable asset to the nation.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu commended Senator Ashafa’s decades of service in both the civil service and politics, particularly highlighting his tenure as Senator representing Lagos East from 2011 to 2019.

Tinubu Hails Senator Gbenga Ashafa at 70The President noted Ashafa’s impactful role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Land Transport, where he championed legislation that contributed significantly to the revitalisation of Nigeria’s railway infrastructure.
Recalling their working relationship during his time as Governor of Lagos State, Tinubu described Ashafa as a trusted technocrat who served in key capacities, including Executive Secretary of the Land Use and Allocation Committee in 2001 and Permanent Secretary of the Lands Bureau in 2005.


“His wealth of experience, exemplary public service, and leadership qualities—demonstrated over the years as a seasoned civil servant, politician, and public officer—make him an invaluable asset to our country,” the President said.
He also acknowledged Senator Ashafa’s contributions to the growth of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and his commitment to grassroots development and humanitarian efforts.


“As he marks this milestone age, I pray that Almighty God grants him a long life filled with good health, peace, and continued service to humanity,” Tinubu added.
Tributes have continued to pour in from political leaders and associates, honouring Senator Ashafa’s contributions to national development and community upliftment.
