The lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Ganiu Sanni Okanlawon, has assured residents of sustained good governance and quality representation at the grassroots.

Sanni gave the assurance during the 10th Constituency Stakeholders’ Meeting held on Thursday across the 40 state constituencies. The theme of this year’s meeting was “Governance in Action: The Gains of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”

The lawmaker highlighted some of his interventions in the constituency, including road construction, youth empowerment, and educational support.

“I have initiated more than seven roads in Kosofe and I am working to facilitate the rehabilitation of more. The Odoogun Junior and Secondary School has been restored to its permanent site, and 150 people have been employed in my constituency so far.

“We have also reviewed the Tenancy Law and conducted a public hearing. Once the governor signs it into law, it will help address housing challenges in Lagos State. In addition, the Office for People Living with Disabilities has received ₦500 million in government support to assist the physically challenged,” Sanni said.

He also disclosed that a Computer Academy organised for Kosofe students recently trained 135 participants, with Miss Bunmi Ajilore of Ogudu emerging as the overall best, while Master Olasunkanmi Muritala from Anthony came second.

Residents used the forum to present pressing needs. Stakeholders from Mende Community called for improved security, provision of markets, and palliatives to cushion the effects of economic reforms. A retired banker, Mr. Israel Balogun, lamented rising insecurity and urged reinforcement of security measures.

Similarly, Mr. Kehinde Saka from Oworonshoki decried high house rents, while Alhaji Tajudeen Ayinde appealed for the installation of solar streetlights. A physically challenged resident, Mr. Nuhu Oloyede of Araromi, Gbagada, urged the Assembly to legislate for the creation of disability centres across all local governments and LCDAs to discourage street begging.

Other demands included a new community market in Mende, improved patrol security, and additional polling units in Ogudu.

Kosofe Local Government Chairman, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, represented by his Vice Chairman, Mr. Oluwole Sosanya, commended Hon. Sanni for fostering dialogue between government and the people. He described the meeting as a platform to strengthen trust and ensure that the Renewed Hope Agenda translates into visible benefits.

Also speaking, Lagos State Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure, Otunba Dayo Alebiosu, disclosed that the proposed Odo-Ogun Waterfront Scheme would provide housing for over 40,000 residents. He urged residents to remain calm and support government policies designed for long-term benefits.
