Amaka’s Nigerian Kitchen, a thriving food business in Cheshire, is fast becoming the go-to spot for lovers of authentic Nigerian cuisine in the United Kingdom.

Founded by Amaka Lawton, the business operates a physical outlet in Crewe and a mobile food van that tours towns, parks, and events across the region, introducing the rich taste of Nigeria to a diverse customer base.

The menu features a wide range of Nigerian favourites, from the ever-popular Jollof Rice to Egusi Soup, Oha Soup, Asun (spicy grilled goat meat), Moi Moi (bean pudding), and assorted grilled fish and meats. These dishes have not only attracted Nigerians in the diaspora but also won the hearts of locals eager to explore West African flavours.

Beyond the food, Amaka is championing a greener and healthier food culture. She has phased out plastic takeaway packs in favour of sustainable, paper-based packaging, a decision she says benefits both the environment and consumers’ health.

Speaking with KosofePost, she stressed the need for food vendors to embrace eco-friendly practices: “We must move away from plastics. Paper packaging is safer, healthier, and better for the environment.”

Her stance reflects a wider global push for sustainability and echoes calls in Nigeria for vendors and government to reduce plastic pollution through alternatives like paper bags.

Amaka’s Nigerian Kitchen is also building community ties. In addition to its mobile services and restaurant offerings, the business provides its venue free of charge for events, underscoring its role as more than just a food outlet, but a hub for culture, community, and shared experiences.
