Prominent members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kosofe have criticised the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Hon. Moyosore Ogunlewe, over what they described as a lack of landmark projects worthy of commissioning by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Between 2021 and 2025, Governor Sanwo-Olu commissioned several infrastructural projects across Agboyi-Ketu LCDA and Ikosi-Isheri LCDA—both under the Kosofe jurisdiction—using shared monthly federal allocations. However, none of the commissioned projects have reportedly originated from the Kosofe Local Government headquarters itself.

The absence of such projects has sparked concerns among residents, political stakeholders, and journalists, who have repeatedly questioned when the governor—who has about 19 months left in office—will inaugurate a project directly initiated by the Kosofe council.

The debate was reignited by a viral post from APC stalwart Oloye Salami Oluwaseun, who shared a video of Governor Sanwo-Olu listing commissioned projects in the LCDAs.

“My concern as a citizen, and the question begging for an answer from the chairman, is: when will Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu come to commission a project in Kosofe?” Salami asked.

Ogunlewe’s Supporters Defend the Chairman

In response, Comrade Kehinde Omotehinse, a staunch supporter of Hon. Ogunlewe, defended the chairman, insisting that his administration had constructed “more than 40 roads” since assuming office, though he provided no details about the locations, scope, or cost of the projects.

“Chairman has constructed more than 40 roads. Please, can you tell the impact of your boss, Hon. Dayo Bush, in his three years as Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure Development?” Omotehin retorted, referring to Salami’s political ally.

Omotehinse further claimed that Ogunlewe had already launched empowerment programmes early in his second term, citing the distribution of ₦50,000 each to 3,000 widows and women.

“He hasn’t even celebrated 100 days in office, yet he distributed ₦50,000 each to 3,000 widows and women. He is a talk-and-do leader whose works speak volumes,” he said.

Residents Counter Empowerment Narrative

However, a resident countered Omotehin’s claim, clarifying that the empowerment initiative was not the chairman’s project but rather a statewide programme.

“That programme was not hosted by the chairman. It’s a statewide initiative known as the CityBoy Programme,” the resident explained.

Several community members have since called on Hon. Ogunlewe to emulate the developmental pace of Agboyi-Ketu and Ikosi-Isheri LCDAs, while others questioned the performance of Hon. Ekundayo Alebiosu, Lagos State Commissioner for Waterfront and Infrastructure Development, demanding accountability for his contributions to Kosofe.

As the exchanges continue, political observers say the controversy reflects growing public scrutiny over local government performance, transparency, and utilisation of public funds across Lagos State.
