In a move that has energized the political atmosphere in Kosofe, Benson Bowale Adepoju has officially declared his intention to represent Kosofe Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The declaration ceremony, held on Tuesday in Ojota, attracted party loyalists, community leaders, and supporters, signaling what observers describe as a significant entry into the race for the party’s ticket.

Addressing attendees at the event, Adepoju, popularly known by his political moniker “Aworo,” outlined a vision centered on inclusive governance and grassroots-driven development.

According to him, governance must be rooted in collaboration and active engagement with the people.

“Our approach to governance must be rooted in listening and collaboration,” he said. “Sustainable development can only be achieved when it is driven from the community level upward.”

With the APC primary elections approaching, the aspirant also urged party members and supporters to mobilize ahead of the contest.

“There will be a primary election, and all our efforts will not be in vain,” he stated. “Let us prepare for the primary to enable us to secure the Kosofe Constituency I seat.”

Adepoju enters the race with years of political and administrative experience across different levels of government. A graduate of Lagos State University and Kwara State Polytechnic, he has previously served as Treasurer of APC Kosofe Local Government and currently functions as a Local Government Executive member.

His political background also includes serving as a councillor in Kosofe and as a Legislative Aide to a member of the House of Representatives between 2015 and 2017.

In addition, he has held administrative positions, including Special Adviser on Health to the Kosofe Local Government Chairman and, most recently, a supervisory role within the council.

The declaration follows months of consultations with stakeholders across the constituency. Supporters of the aspirant described the movement as a structured grassroots campaign aimed at addressing local challenges through practical representation.

Political observers note that Adepoju’s longstanding ties to the progressive political structure in Lagos, dating back to the era of the Alliance for Democracy (AD), could play a significant role as the APC primary race gathers momentum.
