As political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, Bilesanmi Abayomi, Founder and Publisher of Kosofe Post, has congratulated Mayor Dele Oshinowo on his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the House of Representatives seat representing Kosofe Federal Constituency.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Abayomi commended Oshinowo’s record in public service, particularly his tenure as the two-term Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), describing it as a strong foundation for higher legislative responsibilities.

“Your tenure as the two-term Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA stands as a testament to your capability. Even in your private capacity, your track record speaks for itself,” Abayomi stated.

While congratulating the candidate, the publisher urged him to view the opportunity as a call to service and to focus on delivering quality representation that addresses the expectations of constituents across the federal constituency.

According to Abayomi, residents are looking forward to a representation model that prioritises effective lawmaking, robust legislative oversight, and sustained engagement with the people.

Recommendations for Effective Representation

The publisher outlined several areas he believes should form part of Oshinowo’s legislative agenda if elected.

Equitable Distribution of Opportunities

He stressed the importance of ensuring that constituency projects, empowerment programmes, and developmental interventions are distributed fairly across all communities within the constituency, irrespective of political affiliations.

Strengthening Public Engagement

Abayomi encouraged the candidate to build on his reputation for accessibility by establishing structured communication channels that enable continuous interaction between constituents and their representative.

According to him, such engagement should include residents, community groups, professional associations, civil society organisations, faith-based institutions, the media, and political stakeholders.

Institutionalising Feedback Mechanisms

He also advocated for the development of both physical and digital platforms that would allow constituents to provide feedback, make requests, and monitor legislative activities, thereby fostering transparency and accountability.

Distinguishing Governance from Political Activities

Abayomi further advised that official town hall engagements should remain focused on governance, policy discussions, and accountability, while political and empowerment programmes should be clearly distinguished to ensure greater effectiveness and public trust.

“You are no longer representing just a political party or a particular group; you are becoming a representative of all stakeholders within the constituency,” the statement noted.

He concluded by wishing Oshinowo success in his political journey and expressed optimism that his experience in grassroots governance would contribute positively to effective representation at the national level.

“As you prepare for this new responsibility, may your commitment remain focused on the welfare, development, and aspirations of the people of Kosofe Federal Constituency,” Abayomi said.
