The campaign for a “Greater Kosofe” has gained momentum as Mayor Dele Oshinowo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kosofe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, secured expressions of support from traditional rulers and community leaders across the constituency.
Oshinowo, accompanied by members of his campaign team, embarked on a series of courtesy visits to traditional institutions as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The delegation first visited the palace of the Onikosi of Ikosi, His Royal Majesty Oba Alamu Oloyede, who also serves as Chairman of the Council of Obas of Greater Kosofe.
During the visit, the monarch commended Oshinowo’s vision and offered prayers and royal blessings for his political ambition.
Oshinowo, in a statement following the engagement, described the monarch’s support as consistent.
“His support for our cause has been unwavering from day one, and once again, we received his royal blessings and prayers ahead of the coming general election,” he said.
The campaign team also visited the palace of the Shangisha-Magodo monarch, His Royal Majesty Oba Jamiu Lawal Aileru.
The traditional ruler reportedly expressed support for the APC and its candidates across the various levels of the 2027 elections, from the presidential ticket to constituency-level candidates.
The team subsequently held a consultative meeting with members of the Council of Baales of Ikosi-Isheri, where the traditional chiefs offered prayers and expressed solidarity with the APC campaign.
Speaking on the engagements, Oshinowo said the meetings had strengthened his confidence in the campaign’s grassroots strategy.
“It was a day of meaningful royal engagements, prayers, and strong assurances,” Oshinowo stated.
“We are grateful for the confidence and backing of our traditional institutions as we continue this journey. The message of a Greater Kosofe will reach every corner—we are only getting started,” he added.
The engagements come as political activities intensify across Kosofe, with parties and candidates stepping up consultations with traditional institutions, community leaders and grassroots stakeholders ahead of the 2027 polls.
