With 105 days remaining before the 2027 general elections, political activities in Kosofe Federal Constituency are entering a more active phase, with APC candidate Mayor Dele Oshinowo maintaining a sustained grassroots campaign across the constituency.
Oshinowo’s campaign has intensified following the opening of the formal campaign period, with the candidate and his team continuing consultations with political stakeholders, community leaders, traditional institutions, religious bodies and residents across Kosofe.
The campaign, led by its Director-General, Princess Samiat Bada, Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, alongside Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chairman Hon. Adetola Abubakar and the Kosofe Local Government leadership, has adopted a ward-level and community-focused engagement strategy.
The campaign’s central message, “Stronger Representation, Stronger Kosofe,” has featured prominently in its engagements as Oshinowo takes his campaign to Community Development Associations and other grassroots structures.
Among the communities and CDAs visited by the campaign are Bello Folawiyo, Ayegbami, Upper Ikosi, Cele Ireakari, Kastland Estate, Ifesowapo Ayedarade and Ikosi Oke Magodo.
According to the campaign, the consultations are intended to give residents an opportunity to communicate their concerns and priorities while allowing the candidate to present his plans for representation at the federal level.
The campaign has also pointed to engagements with Community Development Committees, traditional rulers, religious organisations, youth and women groups, artisans, media stakeholders and civil society organisations as part of its broader outreach.
However, claims that Oshinowo is the “only visible and active contender” in the constituency, or that opposition candidates are entirely absent from the ground, remain campaign characterisations rather than independently established facts.
As the election approaches, the level of engagement by Oshinowo and other candidates will provide a clearer picture of how the contest develops across the constituency.
For now, Oshinowo’s campaign has continued to emphasise sustained grassroots consultations, with the APC candidate presenting his “Stronger Representation, Stronger Kosofe” platform to communities across Kosofe.
