Hundreds of residents turned out at the Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Secretariat on Saturday as the Kosofe Cares Free Healthcare Programme entered its second day, providing medical services to residents at no cost.

The nine-day initiative, organised by Mayor Dele Oshinowo, former Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu LCDA and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Kosofe Federal Constituency in the 2027 elections, in partnership with philanthropist Seyi Tinubu, aims to reach more than 4,000 residents across the constituency.

The outreach began on Friday, October 30, at the Kosofe Local Government Secretariat in Ogudu before moving to the Ikosi-Isheri LCDA Secretariat at 20 Ikosi Road for its second day.

The programme targets vulnerable groups, including low-income households, senior citizens, women and young people, with the aim of reducing the cost of accessing basic healthcare.

Medical Services and Health Insurance Support

Residents who visited the Ikosi-Isheri centre received several healthcare services, including free enrolment and renewal under the Lagos State ILERA EKO Health Insurance Scheme.

Other services included blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, HIV testing, medical consultations, physical examinations and routine health assessments.

Medical personnel also provided counselling on hypertension management, diabetes prevention and healthy living. Beneficiaries received prescribed medications and essential healthcare materials at no cost.

Political and Community Leaders Attend Outreach

The second day of the programme attracted political stakeholders and local government officials, including the Executive Chairman of Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, Princess Samiat Abolanle Bada, who commended the initiative.

Also present was Dr. Muritala Ishola Seriki, the APC candidate for Kosofe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly for the 2027 elections.

Their participation brought together representatives of the local council, political stakeholders and community leaders around the healthcare outreach.

Programme to Cover Three Council Areas

Scheduled to run from October 30 to November 7, 2026, the Kosofe Cares programme will cover the three local council areas within the Kosofe Federal Constituency: Kosofe Local Government Area, Ikosi-Isheri LCDA and Agboyi-Ketu LCDA.

The target of 4,000 beneficiaries represents an increase from the 2,000 residents reached through the Mayor Dele Oshinowo Foundation’s (MDOF) 2025 healthcare intervention.

Speaking on the progress of the exercise, Oshinowo thanked APC ward leaders, youth executives, women leaders and volunteer medical personnel for supporting the programme.

He said partnerships with private individuals and organisations, including Seyi Tinubu, were important in complementing government efforts to improve access to healthcare.

Organisers have encouraged residents across the three council areas to visit the designated outreach centres and benefit from the services before the programme ends on November 7.
