The House Ajao Built

This was the house of late Chief Joseph Adediran Ajao, the late Bashorun of Aawe at his family compound in Aawe town.

He was born in 1900 and died in 1962 at the age of 62. He built the house in the 1940s

If you have heard of Ajao Estate and Papa Ajao, both in Lagos, then you have heard of Chief Joseph Adediran Ajao as the said estates were named after him as he was the intermediate owner of all lands comprised in these estates.

This building was one of the best when newly built in Aawe. I was reliably informed that people used to come from as far as Oke-Ogun area to look at the house.

The late Alaafin Oba Onikepo Shiyanbola Ladigbolu together with his Aremo and other Oyo dignitaries were some of those who attended the house warming ceremony.
Today, the house is only a historical relic. A few tourists take a glance once in a while.
What ever you have that makes you so proud today will become history tomorrow. Even you, the almighty you, will become history. A six by two space, a paltry six feet deep is the maximum you will get out of that expanse you gloat over now.
All the paparazzi will be gone and people will rack their brains to remember your name.
