Justice ministry saves girl allegedly assaulted by father

The Directorate of Citizens Rights, Lagos State Ministry of Justice, has saved an 11- year-old girl, who was allegedly assaulted by her 61-year-old father.

The minor was rescued when a neighbour on a street in Ikosi, in the Ikosi-Isheri Local Council Development Area of the state, reported the incident to the directorate.

The statement read in part, “The good neighbour stated that the 61-year-old man, who lost his wife and mother of the victim and had remarried, was always in the habit of assaulting the victim and her siblings.”

The Director, DCR, Mrs Oluwatoyin Odusanya, stated that officials of the Child Protection Unit, Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development, took the alleged perpetrator to the police for further investigation.

The Director, Child Protection Unit, DCR, Mrs Olubukola Odukoya, said the victim would be taken to a government facility for rehabilitation.
