The court judgement that proclaim the sacking of Engr. Adedeji Doherty has exposed serial unpreparedness of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, leadership for Council Poll.
The latest development revealed the former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki led reconciliation efforts among gladiators did not yield the desire result. thus, should not be a surprise to the Chairmanship, Councilorship flagbearers, whom the party is found of demoralizing whenever LG poll draws near in Lagos State.
Since LCDAS was created in the state, the party cheered it’s chairmanship and councillorship candidates to join, after they might have wasted time, energy and hard earned resources the party leader will come on National TV stations and forced them to boycott the election without refunding nomination form fee or compensation.
Around 2012 the party jettison the idea of boycotting the Council poll and participated fully while, selectively funded the flag bearers.
The development that prompted many members to dump the party, PDP allegedly trading the future of its candidates over personal interest.
Yet another, great opportunity presented during 2017 Local Government election for the party to give the ruling party, APC run for it’s money. On the other hand, the state chairman leadership tussle between Moshood Salvador and Adewale Segun Aka Aeroland polarised the party which prompted some factions reportedly sponsored by Chief Bode George to contest on the platform of the Labour party while both PDP and breakaway members recorded woeful performance as result of the divisions.
The recent court judgement that sacked Doherty in favour of Dr. Agboola Dominic coming few weeks to the LG election while some candidates names has already been submitted to Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission is not quite different from the past self defeatism and demoralization of it’s candidates ahead of election.
The controversial and celebrated verdict by top PDP Chieftain, Honorable Rahman Owokoniran, and many others came when some of the nominated candidates were still struggling to print posters, banners, Flyers, reach out to Community stakeholders to properly hit the ground running, among others.
