On behalf of the good and patriotic people of Kosofe Local Government, I am delighted to felicitate with the President of Federal Republic of Nigeria His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, the Governor of Lagos- State, His Excellency, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and indeed all Nigerians at home and in diaspora on the occasion of our nation’s 61th Independence day Anniversary.
For the past 61 years, Nigeria has constantly celebrated 1st October of every year to commemorate our nations independence. Today affords us another opportunity as a people to retrospect, review and look forward as we continue to build a great nation. The time is ripe for us to show that we are a great people from a great nation and this can only be achieved through our collective engagement in positive endeavors and attitudinal change to our country’s value system.
As we celebrate our nations Independence, let’s remember our leaders who gave their lives in the battle for the freedom we are enjoying. Also think on what we can do to sustain the gains and protect this heritage for the generations yet unborn. We must put extra effort into performing our civic responsibility. Our diversity in tribes, languages and culture should not be seen as weakness rather as our greatest strength. Let us be mindful of everything we can do for our nation to make it a place of wealth, peace, and happiness. As we remember our national heroes today, let’s renew our pledge to always live together in peace and harmony in our communities.
I wish to assure the good people of Kosofe and public Servants at the Secretariat that this new Administration will pursue policies and programmes that are designed to improve the living Standard of our people irrespective of status, while honesty and dedication will be our watchwords, rewards for industry will at the same time be our Hallmark, by this ,we shall adequately reward industry and commitment to duty.
Our Independence can only be meaningful if as patriots, we translate the credo which this Nation holds dearly into reality.
Finally, my dear good, peace loving and progress minded people of kosofe LGA, as we join other LGAs and States to celebrate Nigeria at 61, I heartily wish us all peace and harmony, love and unity, strength and power.
