Sanni Ganiu Okanlawon has offered scholarships to 22 students pursuing various courses at different higher institutions across the country.
He also gave out worth of N6.6Million health insurance policy to the 22 beneficiaries.
A Member of Governor’s Advisory Council, Omoba Olumuyiwa Sosanya who flagged off the distribution of the scholarship scheme on Friday at the Banex Hotel and Suites, Lagos stressed the importance of education which he said is a vital key to the development of any society. He thanked the lawmaker for his first of its kind initiative and urged the beneficiaries to make the best use of the gesture.

Adefisayo commended the lawmaker for adopting a transparent process for shortlisting the beneficiaries.” He doesn’t know any of them. I think this is wonderful and worthy of emulation. He did it without tribalism, across religions he doesn’t know them before they deserve it.”
In his turn, The House Chairman Committee on Education of Lagos State House of Assembly, Sanni
who distributed educational materials and ICT centre to public schools few weeks ago said that the scholarship was part of efforts to support the educational development of youths in his constituency.
The lawmaker said over 50 applications out of which 22 applicants were approved benefited from the maiden edition of OKLA scholarship scheme. N100,000000 presented during the first phase of the distribution to students from the Kosofe constituency 1, after satisfying certain criteria.
“Over the last few weeks, we have successfully offered our shoulder to the needy to lean upon by providing educational materials to public schools in our Constituency, with promise to replicate same in order primary school and secondary in Kosofe Constituency 1.”
“We have also commissioned OKLA Table Tennis Academy which is aimed at breeding world-class champions through awaken of inmate but untapped talents within the Kosofe Community and also address youth restiveness and to promote another Socio-Economic lifeline for the of the Constituency.”
In addition, we delivered ICT/computer centre for Emmanuel High Nursery and Primary School, Ojota. The centre will provide children with the necessary tools to understand the ever advancing technology that is happening in this modern world today and equipped them with different types of skills needed in their future lives.
He further enjoined well-meaning public-spirited individuals and corporate organizations within and outside Constituency to partner with the lawmaker to provide life improving, life-saving and life impacting services to the residents.
He restated his resolve to provide more dividends of democracy to his constituents before the expiration of the tenure of the present administration in the state.
Many speakers that spoke at the occasion commended the lawmaker for impacting positively on the lives of his constituents and urged him to sustain it.
Some of the beneficiaries that spoke with reporters after the occasion expressed their deep gratitude for the gesture and pledged to make the best use of the money received towards their academic pursuit.
A medical student of University of Lagos who was one of the beneficiary with 4.83 Cumulative Grade Point Average, Ms. Adebayo Adeola said,” We thank the Honourable for bringing out this kind of opportunity for students to be able to help us with our education.”
