In this article, Engr. Olusola Adedayo (Moschino), from Ward A Oworonsoki Kosofe LG explained the ignorance been displayed by our lawmakers following the UK Covid-19 travel ban placed on Nigeria. He also talks on how diplomatic they should be on the travel ban while looking for ways to live above the western worlds, instead of leveraging on them for survival.
The lawmakers crying AWOL about the UK Covid-19 travel ban placed on Nigeria are just displaying ignorance. What punitive measures can you take against a UK that is bent on protecting his people at all cost? This is a wake-up call to us as a people to re-orientate our minds and stop our dependence on western world for survival. Prof Emeritus Oyewale Tomori wept bitterly because of the state of the nation on Covid-19.

We’ve turned ourselves to beggars that go “capped in hands” to beg for vaccines. When we beg virtually for everything, where will the respect comes from? This situation calls for sober reflection on our way of life, and shun praise-singing attitudes by speaking the truth to power.
The travel ban should be taken in good faith. Those that have mapped out plans for medical and leisure tourism have gotten their hope dashed by the UK govt. Have we taken out time to think how UK that had more cases of Omicron variant Covid-19 is placing a ban on Nigeria that had lesser cases? The answer isn’t far-fetched, it’s because they value the lives of their citizens and can’t afford to gamble with it.
We did ourselves in as a people when we cut corners on every side. We forge and issues fake Covid-19 PCR tests, we present fake vaccination cards at the airports and so on. How will they take us serious.
There is a stringent policy to that effect that any UK citizen that’s in Nigeria and wishes to travel to UK must present a day-old PCR -ve Covid-19 test. Is it possible to get a PCR done in Nigeria in just a day before your flight? You will agree with me that it’s impossible.
The summary and the crux of the matter is that we are the architects of our misfortunes. We did this to our self. Admission of mistakes/wrong doings is the first step to redemption.
Let’s look inwards, enough of medical travel abroad. Fixing our infrastructural facilities, health, roads, water and workable and realistic policies is the remedy to our self-inflicted menace.
