The Honourable Executive Chairman of Lagos’ Kosofe Local Government Area, Moyo Ogunlewe, has praised the Kosofe branch of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), led by Prince Ade Arababa, for their dedication, maturity, loyalty, sincerity, and perseverance.
The Chairman congratulated the retirees and praised them for their contributions to the council’s growth and development during the National Union of Local Government Employees’ 2022 Workers forum and send forth party on Tuesday.
The Chairman also reaffirmed the Kosofe Government Administration’s commitment to the Council’s staff’s welfare, particularly in the area of professional capacity, saying, “Your welfare is a rule rather than an exception, it is a must, and this workers’ forum is an avenue for me as a Chairman to learn about your requests and try to implement at least 70% of them.”
Will make every effort to pay your allowances on time, provide water, electricity, and furnishings, and provide a pleasant working atmosphere for all of you.”
He added,” This conducive environment is predicated on conflict management and resolutions. Conflicts are part of human society, but the leadership entrusted with management of affairs must be able to douse the fire coming from conflict. This is exactly what we did during the recent heinous incident. I’m not rehashing the old wound, and I’m not assigning blame to anyone, but we need to form a conflict resolution group to deal with it before it escalates.”
“If there is agitation for anything, or anything that could lead to conflict, workers’ leaders must take proper control of the situation and report it to us for immediate involvement and resolution. As part of our employee benefits package, we will establish a quarterly best officers program very shortly.”
Mr. Murtala Arole, the Council Manager, and Prince Ade Arababa, the Chairman of the Nulge Governor’s Advisory Committee, both praised the Council Chairman for instantly increasing the staff’s welfare package, among other things.
The council manager issued a warning to government officials who steal tax revenues, stating that he will not cover staff members who are caught diverting Council funds to personal accounts.
Mr. Arole went on to say that anyone found wanton faces automatic dismissal for tax fraud, which carries a seven-year sentence.
Mrs. Taiwo Odubela, the Council Human Resources Officer, backed up the council manager, saying that punctuality is the lifeblood of any business. She warned employees not to come to work whenever or on whatever day they want.
Absconding from work without leave, study leave authorisation, or actual medical documentation would no longer be accepted among employees, she stated.
She advised employees, among other things, to update their profiles and complete their job performance appraisals as soon as possible.
While praising Moyo Ogunlewe’s administration, Prince Ade Arababa, who is in charge of employee welfare, highlighted the young administration’s 23 critical achievements.
He went on to make a large list of demands for the Chairman’s consideration on behalf of the workers.
While making explanations on the NULGE requests, Kosofe Chairman, who met the Local Council in a distressed situation a few months ago, claimed that in addition to the increased welfare package, he gave industrial boreholes and light, among other things.
He also stated that a new office building will be built to create a pleasant working environment for the employees.
He stated that the needs of the electorates who elected the executive Chairman and Councilors must be prioritized. He told the workers forum, however, that his administration will continue to improve their welfare, among other things.
Mr. Abayomi Olaniyi of the Department of Environment and Sanitation congratulated the Council Chairman for the special send-off party and gifts on behalf of the retirees, who had worked for the Local Government for 35 years.
“The nicest part of my day is today because I didn’t expect what’s going on here today to be completed today, but it was, and I love it. I’d want to thank the Chairman of the Local Government for his support and activities, and I pray that God would continue to bless him in Jesus’ name “Abayomi, a retiree, stated.
He asked those still serving in the council local to follow the rules and regulations and avoid insubordination.
The Chairman’s distribution of presents to the retirees was the centerpiece of the ceremony.
