Honourable Rotimi Agunsoye, a member representing Lagos’ Kosofe Federal Constituency, has identified Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed, the former Governor of Lagos State and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, as his father and benefactor.
He revealed this lately in an interview when discussing his connection with Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and Tinubu.

Agunsoye, who described his relationship with Tinubu as “father and son,” stated that he had the opportunity to work directly under him as Special Adviser on Physical Planning and Urban Development, and also claimed Tinubu put words for him to become the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

He stated, “Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the father of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, and that he is a tiny boy caught in the middle between the two of them, there is nothing he can say but to continue to beg to God Almighty to intervene.” I’ve done my hardest to do certain things, yet I’m still a small boy in their eyes.

While urging people to pray for swift intervention, he also stated that Tinubu is not someone who can be ignored, and that he is confident that Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola is taking steps to put things right.
He went on to say that while Ogbeni Rauf is a leader in his own right, he cannot be compared to Ashiwaju in terms of leadership hierarchy.
He further said that Ogbeni holds the party’s national head in high esteem and begged for God’s intervention so that their father-son relationship could continue peacefully.
In response to reports that he told hundreds of his supporters not to associate with Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ABAT Movement, Agunsoye declared that this is false and that it never happened.
“If you go to Kosofe Local Government, you will see my people attending ABAT meetings here and there, and they have even held meetings at my Constituency office, indicating that my people are the majority. You can inquire about ABAT meeting attendance at the Kosofe Local Government.”
“My people in Ikosi Isheri, where I live, are strong ABAT excos members, and the same is true in Agboyi Ketu.” I was wondering if anyone wanted to run for House of Representatives against me because of the contest; the more the merrier, but I’m not saying no one should not run.
“However, when it comes to character defamation and a campaign of calumny, I will not accept it,” said Honourable Rotimi Agunsoye.

He went on to say that the person responsible for the slanderous utterances and publications had been reported to Senator Olorunnimbe Mamora on multiple occasions.
But I ignored the esteemed senator’s advice before instructing my lawyer to write him to withdraw and apologize for the misleading claims.
While lawmakers changed their phone numbers and stayed in Abuja after the election to avoid people’s requests that he shuttle between Abuja and Lagos every weekend to attend to the needs of his constituents, he challenged his opponents to push forward their candidates if they truly believed they were on the ground.
“I am not far from my constituency; every weekend, I travel to Lagos to respond to the concerns of my constituents, which I do frequently.”
When it comes to empowerment, you won’t find me wanting, and when it comes to infrastructural development, you won’t find me wanting.
Agunsoye, who described himself as Ashiwaju’s political son, also maintained that he is a big supporter of Ashiwaju. He emphasized that no one can come between him and his patron, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. “I pay respect to individuals; I don’t just look at the now; I also consider the future.” Whatever you accomplish today will be remembered in the future.
Even if I stay in this position for fourth or five terms, it will come to an end at some point. Some people were there before I arrived, and others will arrive after I have departed, and that is life. I am terrified of God, I believe in God, and I respect my leaders, especially Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
In response to Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rtd. Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila, and his countless supporters pushing him to run again, he said the Rtd. Honourable Speaker is the finest person to advocate on his behalf.
“The purpose of the Speaker’s visit is to assess my presence and contributions on whatever level.
Again, since my first term in the House of Representatives in 2015, there has not been a year when I have not done Empowerment programmes at least three (3) times.” I’ve always been there for my Constituents. I don’t try to flee from my people. You will see my interventions if you travel the length and width of my Constituency; you will see the intervention I facilitated.
Apart from his quarterly empowerment programmes, the lawmaker, whom some members of the Governor’s Advisory Council in Lagos East described as exceptional, highlighted projects he facilitated across Kosofe Federal Constituency in less than 7 years in office, including classroom blocks, solar boreholes, fully equipped ICT centers, hospital, Isheri North Police station, and transformers, among others.
While explaining his major task, the congressman, who has multiple motions and bills supported by him, stated that he facilitated interventions based on the desires of his constituents as a result of previous administrations’ failures.
“When certain things were not done by the previous government, the PDP government, the narratives changed, and I couldn’t sit and fold my arms when my people were hungry and unhappy.
I’ll look for any available resources to help them satisfy their needs.”
