Defamation: Seun Salami’s declines Federal lawmaker requests in Lagos

Seun Salami has turned down the demand from Honourable Rotimi Agunsoye, a lawmaker representing Lagos’ Kosofe Federal Constituency, to retract libelous words and issue an unreserved apology in a national newspaper.

Salami’s while personally acknowledging the receipt of the letter, stated that he was served in his Ikorodu resident in Gestapo style on Saturday, 26th of February, 2022.


“My understanding of the totality of the substance of the letter is that I have made statements that have put your clients in a negative light in the eyes of the public and therefore request I apologies,” he says in part of his answer.
Salami strongly disagreed with the Lawmaker’s counsel, claiming that he never defamed him and that all he wanted was accountability for his actions as a representative of the people of Kosofe Federal Constituency, among other things.
He emphasized that the allegations leveled against him regarding his relationship with Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola and his lack of support for the Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Movement haven’t been refuted and rebuffed.
According to the Kosofe Post, Salami was sent a letter by the member’s of legal counsel for alleged utterances, and the news coverage painted the lawmaker in a negative light.
He had seven (7) days to withdraw the claims, according to the letter.
