The contractor handling Demurin Church construction, The RETRO Construction Company Limited, on Thursday disclosed that the project is now over 50 percent completed.
During a special visit to the project team at the Lagos office, the firm’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Wushishi, stated that total works on Demurin, Church in Agboyi Ketu Lcda, area of Kosofe Local Government, are now more than 50% complete.
According to the firm, “We cannot abandon the job.” In construction, there’s so much. The only thing people look at is the asphalt, but there’s so much we are doing inside. There’s light, water pipeline relocation, among others.
Right now in Demurin, the reason why Demurin is slow is that the Ministry of Works is trying to redesign a major part of Demurin. Both at Church and Demurin, everything is going on well.
The firm noted that the project is not at 35%, and that the two projects are well over 50% completion. The company reiterated that no job was abandoned.
“Our firm bid for the job and got it on merit based on its track record.
“We are not abandoning the job. We have an equipment base of over 500 million there. The bagging plant alone is over 250 million. We will not leave our bagging plant and start running away.”
While seeking the support and cooperation of the community stakeholders, the firm reassured the residents of the affected areas that as soon as the redesign and other connected issues are resolved, the project will be completed as soon as possible.
The KosofePost reports that the expansion of roads at Demurin, Agidi, and Church Streets, Alapere, in Kosofe Local Government areas commenced in the third quarter of 2020.
The project was conceived by the state government as a solution to the perennial traffic gridlock experienced by motorists along the Ketu-Mile 12 axis of the Lagos-Ikorodu Road.
Upon completion, these roads will boost the socio-economic development of this area in particular and the state in general.
