Ahead of the 2023 presidential primaries of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a campaign group loyal to the Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, on Thursday, met with critical stakeholders of the party in Lagos .
The Lagos State Coordinator, Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI), Mr Richard Oru, made this disclosure during an exco meeting with the 20 local governments coordinators of the group in Lagos.
Oru explained that the purpose of the engagement with critical stakeholders of the party was to drum support for the presidential ambition of the governor.
The coordinator noted that his antecedent had put him ahead of other presidential aspirants in the forthcoming primary election of the party.
Oru urged the delegates and other stakeholders to forget about any distractions and vote the governor so that the party’s victory at the 2023 poll would be guaranteed.
“The purpose of our meeting with the party’s stakeholders and some delegates was to ensure that their votes are donated for our aspirant.
“The state excos of GDI has started reaching out to the South-West delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party for the presidential primary election that is likely to hold this month.
“Gov. Nyesom Wike, is the Mr Capable and the man of integrity whom if given the opportunity to bear the presidential flag bearer of PDP, will means automatic victory in the general election.
“So this is why we have been reaching out to canvass for him for them to donate their votes to Wike, because that is when their votes will count as delegate,” he said.
The coordinator said the group also had some party’s delegates among them at the wards, local governments and states.
Oru noted that Wike was a man that operated the principle of developmental administration in the corridors of globalisation and development as it concerns the life of the citizenry.
According to him, the presidential aspirant has practised this principles and we have seen them in his disposition even as the governor of River State.
He added that with all this antecedent, starting from when he was the local government chairman, a minister in the ministry of education and now the governor of Rivers State.
Oru said such aspirant with that kind of vast experience and in terms of businesses, he had also excelled in the commercial business before he venture into politics.
The deputy coordinator of the group, Mr Yusuf Tairu said the governor was the most qualified to emerge as the party’s president candidate because he was one of the aspirants that had not defect from another party.
Tairu said the country needed someone like Wike as the president of the country to take it to the promised land as he was presently doing as the Rivers State governor. (NAN)
