Nigerian airlines have increased airfare Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) suspended Dana Airline indefinitely on Wednesday night.
Kosofe Post reports that before the ban on Dana Air, ticket prices were between N50,000 and N65,000 but since the announcement ticket prices have gone as high as N80,000.
Checks by our correspondent revealed that flights from Lagos to Abuja and vice versa cost between N70,000 to N80,000 for those seeking to travel within the next three or four days.
For flights lower than N70,000, the timing of the flights are all at night, starting from after 8pm
A ticketing agent told Kosofe Post that the hike in price was caused by the suspension of Dana Air and not aviation fuel.
“Passengers on Dana Airline are scampering for tickets on other available airlines after the suspension by NCAA,” Kehinde Adewunmi said.
“The prices will normalise by midweek when most passengers have sorted themselves out,” he added.
Investigation by Kosofe Post revealed that Arik Air prices have soared to N80,119 for economy and N110,119 for business category.
Air Peace prices have also increased from between N78,000 and N85,000 while Max Air is charging between N65,000 and N75,000.
As for Ibom Air, all seats have been sold out up until Monday. The ticket prices are between N61,000 and N75,000.
Kosofe Post had reported that Dana Air was forced to an emergency landing at the Abuja international airport after one of its aircraft, Boeing 737 with registration mark 5N DNA had an engine failure.
