The burial ceremony of Princess Victoria Oyinade Adedeji, the mother of former Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Prince Ademuyiwa Adeji, has come and gone, but it will linger for ever in the memory of those that attended the event.
The nonagenarian had touched the lives of her immediate children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as the Kosofe community where she spent most of her life.
The 3-day ceremony started on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, with a Service of Songs at the Gbagada home the deceased. On August 26, First St. Anglican Church, kicked-started the celebration at the Christian wake.
The high point of the event was the burial proper, which started with a funeral service at the First St. Anglican Church, Iraye Oke, Epe, Lagos. In attendance were Lagos State Assembly lawmaker, Hon. Sanni Okanlawon, and Lagos State Child Protection Network General Secretary, Rasheed Awofeso, among others.
After the church service, the body of the deceased, in a white casket made by BCFS, a Lagos-based firm of undertakers, and which a source said cost about a million, was taken to her residence in a white 4Matic Mercedes Benz R350 hearse.
Later in the day, guests were entertained at a lavish party held at The Epe Primary School, Adedeji Road, Iraye Oke, Epe town.
Hon. Dayo Alebiosu led dignitaries including Lagos State Assembly lawmaker, Hon. Femi Saheed; Kosofe’s former Executive Secretary, Hon. Gbemisola Ketiku; and Lagos State APC Assistant State Secretary, Hon. Jumoke Animahun, among others, on the band stand.
Kosofe Local Government Vice Chairman, Oluwole Sasanya, cabinet members and senior staffs were in attendance.
Hon. Ibrahim Mustapha, Oloye Seun Salami, Baale Anthony Village, Chief Yusuf Ayoola Oseni, Otunba Oladeinde Shonibare and others.
At the grand burial ceremony, former Ikosi Isheri Lcda Vice Chairman, Alhaji Mukhaila Adisa, former Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Yemi Olowolabi, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Oluwasegun Smart Ajiboye, politicians, public servants, businessmen, traditional leaders, and top musicians, among other dignitaries, graced the grand burial ceremony.
