The Kosofe Constituency People’s Democratic Party youth leader, Ubini Happiness, has called on Nigerian youths to wake up to their responsibilities and get involved in politics and governance.
Happiness, who was among the newly sworn in executives, made the call during a brief chat with our correspondent on Sunday morning.
He noted that if young Nigerians want to see positive changes in Kosofe constituency 1 and Lagos State at large, they should get involved in politics, adding that the future of the nation solely depends on their strength.
He advised the youths to use their energy positively and work towards becoming self-sacrificing politicians who are ready to serve and contribute positively to the improvement of their immediate society and the Lagos state at large.
He explained that if the youth are fully involved in governance, a local government chairman can not just wake up and say he fixed a road in my community for N19 million and wasted about N5 million of public funds to repair and renovate a party secretariat, among others.
He opined that the best legacy a government can leave to its citizens is a free and quality education. He, however, said that despite the fact that education is not free in Nigeria, the government has failed to build the educational sector to mould youths to international best standards.
He enjoined the youths to remember the sufferings they have gone through in the past years before making their 2023 decision, change the perspective of the leader of tomorrow to the leader of today and to rebuild the nation by voting out bad governance in 2023.
The elated youth leader, who was a former zonal chairman and ward executive member, sees his new appointment as a call to service and an opportunity to further contribute to youth development in Kosofe constituency.
