In the early hours of Wednesday, four suspected kidnapper gang members were lynched by a mob in the Ikosi Area of Lagos State.

According to an eyewitness, the incident happened at about 12 noon in Ikosi Isheri Local Council Development Area, Kosofe, Lagos.

The four suspected kidnappers were, however, rescued by the Ketu Divisional Police Headquarters and, consequently, taken into custody for further investigation.

According to an eyewitness account, “they tapped a girl and she began to follow them unconsciously. However, a passerby who is familiar with the girl observed the strange development and called her name, but she did not answer.

“But, nemesis caught up with them at Mr. Biggs’ Bus Stop along Ikosi Road, Ikosi Isheri, when a passerby raised the alarm to alert passersby of the action of the suspects.”

In the ensuing battle, the suspects were reported to have been lynched on the spot, together with their vehicle.

It took the quick intervention of the Nigeria Police Force to rescue the other four members of the gang.

However, it could not be confirmed at press time if the victim had regained her consciousness.

The Police Public Relations Officer PPRO, Muyiwa Adejobi, could not be reached for comment.
