The defection of All Progressives Congress (APC) major financial in Kosofe constituency 1, Lanre Carew, to the Social Democratic Party, and his subsequent emergence as the party flagbearer, has continued to unsettle his former party’s leadership.
The Kosofe Post gathered that three local government chairmen, Lagos Governor’s Advisory Council Members, prominent leaders and elders across Kosofe federal constituency were among the APC stakeholders who reached out to him to jettison his ambition on the platform of SDP’s and support the APC candidate.
Carew appeared to be weighed down by the extreme pressure as he refused to hit the ground campaigning for the Kosofe constituency 1 race, unlike his visible approach to primary elections and party support for party candidates.
In KP recent tour of Kosofe constituency 1, a few posters, banners and billboards, respectively, have yet to be sighted. When contacted a few days ago over his readiness for the election, he declined comment.
Candidates from the All Progressives Congress, Social Democratic Party, People’s Democratic Party, and Labour Party are expected to compete for the Kosofe Constituency 1 seat.
However, Carew of the SDP and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Sani Ganiu Okanlawo, seem to be the major contestants to watch out for according to developing politics in Kosofe.
