The Olu of Agboyi, His Royal Majesty, Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega, Akinmasa1, held ground-breaking ceremonies on Saturday as the climax of activities marking his second coronation anniversary.
The monarch, who attended a Thanksgiving service at Agboyi Central Mosque on Friday, walked to the venue in style and glamour.
Oba Oladega, who was decked out in traditional regalia, studded beads, and other paraphernalia, took everyone by storm while arriving at the venue, as residents, including bystanders, palace chiefs, other functionaries, worshippers, and market women gave the monarch a rosy welcome.
Olu of Agboyi, in his address, commended Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, the Governor of Lagos State, for making August 20 a historical day in Agboyi, an ancient town.
“August 20, 2022, will forever remain historic in the history of Agboyi kingdom, as that day marks the first ceremonial right of crossing the Ipate River after the Governor of Lagos State and the State Executive Council approved my nomination as the 4th Olu Agboyi,” he said.
“Between August 2020 and June 2022, our legal team worked tirelessly to secure our victory at the court. In the end, the honorable judge in the case saw no credibility in the case filed by our detractors. and the matter was therefore struck out. Kudos to our legal team.”
The monarch appreciated his families and the Royal Family, led by former members of the governing council LASUSTECH, Chief Taiwo Edun Owoyele, Baba Oba of Agboyi, Chief Moshood Olashege, the Chairman of the Peace Committee, Venerable Israel Omotunde Owoyele, among others, for their massive supports.
Speaking on his achievements, he said, “A lot has happened in two years, but we thank God that in the end we have a good story to tell. In two years, we have to our credit a functional water project by Mayor Dele Oshinowo, an ICT center by Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye, member of the House of Representatives, the secondary school approval by the Lagos State Government, the approval of Agboyi Motorable Bridge, the ongoing construction of a 40-bed maternity hospital, and the ongoing Town Hall by the Federal Government through the golden daughter of the Awori race, her excellency Princess Adejoke Orelope Adefulire, the Senior Special Assistant to the President of Nigeria on SDGs, the Lagos State Government, and the Federal Government”
He added that he supported the upgrade of Baale Oruba Agboyi II to king status as the Oloruba of Oruba Agboyi II through the Lagos State Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs.
The Monarch, who is beneficiary of the progressive drive of APC, urged all the good people of Agboyi kingdom to cast their votes for Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, Senator Mikail Adetokunbo Abiru, Mrs. Kafilat Ogbara, Hon. Femi Saheed, and Hon. Ganiu Okanlawon on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in next year’s election.
The Olofin Isheri, OBA Sulaimon Adekunle Bamgbade, Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, Ranodu of Imota, Oba Mudasiru Bakare- Agoro, Oloworo of Oworo, Oba Babatunde Saliu, Alaketu of Ketu, Oba Isiaka Adio Oyero Balogun, Onishaginsha of Shaginsha, Oba Jamiu Aileru, the duo of Olofin of Isheri and Ayangburen of Ikorodu Oba Kabiru Shotobi, who spoke at the event, commended the monarch for his exploits on the throne, particularly on infrastructure and peace.
They prayed to Almighty God and his ancestors for peace and wisdom for the king.
On behalf of traditional leaders, Ayangburen advised Nigerians to cast their votes for APC candidate Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
With the conferment of the chieftaincy title, Hon. Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Chairman, Ikorodu West Local Council Development, bagged Otunba Bobagbimo of Agboyi, among others.
The climax of the occasion was the launch of a historical book in honor of the Olu of Agboyi and cutting of the anniversary Cake.
A popular Fuji artist, Alh. Sefiu Alao Adekunle, aka Omo Oko, entertained the several guests.
