Cheche foundation distributes cash and food items to widows

A non-governmental organization, the Cheche Foundation, in collaboration with the Kosofe Widows Association, has distributed cash and food items to widows in Kosofe.

The foundation cares for the less privileged, empowers the youth, and campaigns against social vices, e.g., killing, raping, kidnapping, child abuse, and drug abuse, among others.

Speaking on behalf of the Foundation, Engr. Abiodun Owokoya said the gesture is to continuously put smiles on the faces of the needy while noting that everyone needs help at different levels.

Owokoya, who ran for the Kosofe federal constituency ticket on the platform of the All Progress Congress, said the gesture was in fulfillment of his pledge to continue to care for widows regardless of the outcomes of the party primary.

He noted that if he had secured the party ticket, he planned to build a house for the widows so they could stop paying house rent and live off an additional monthly salary and foodstuffs.

She, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to continue praying for him to enable him to do more for them.

Sharing his testimony, a beneficiary, Adetoun Edu, said the Cheche Foundation has helped them in their locality and that many items and cash have been donated to their members.

“In December 2021, Engr. Abiodun Owokoya called me and said that they wanted to give widows food. You know, when they call a gathering and say they want to share something for Widow, non-Widow will surely show up there.

Coordinator for Widows in Kosofe Local Government, Edu, said the foundation called on December 20, 2022, and on January 7, donors donated two bags of rice, two bags of garri, and cash, among others, to support the widows.
