The Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Barr. Moyosore Ogunlewe, has praised the high turnout of voters during the ongoing presidential election in Nigeria.

Ogunlewe made this statement after casting his vote at Polling Unit 041 Ojota, Ogudu, Kosofe in Lagos on Saturday.

Ogunlewe commended the efforts of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a peaceful and credible election.

He also noted that some of the polling units experienced little hiccups in the operation of the Biometric Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS).

“I am concerned about some of the polling booths that were not identified during the 2019 elections but were used for this 2023 election. Some voters came out early enough but could not find their polling units, which is a problem for the voting process,” Ogunlewe said.

He also received information that some of the BIVAS were not working at Ifako 047, but he was optimistic that the situation would be resolved soon. Ogunlewe, however, reiterated that the election had been free, fair, and credible so far.

Ogunlewe expressed his optimism that the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, Sen. Bola Tinubu, would emerge as the next president of the country in the ongoing presidential election.

Meanwhile, Nigerians have continued to turn out in large numbers to exercise their civic responsibility amidst tight security across the country.

The electoral process has been relatively peaceful, with isolated cases of violence reported in some areas.

INEC has assured Nigerians of its commitment to ensuring a free, fair, and credible election.
