The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Mudashiru Obasa, has called on residents to conduct themselves peacefully during Saturday’s Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections. Obasa made this appeal in a statement released on Friday in Lagos.
He specifically urged the youths to refrain from thuggery, electoral violence, or any other act that could undermine the peace of the nation. Obasa also implored parents and guardians to advise their wards and children not to foment trouble during the election.
The Speaker further appealed to Nigerians not to allow their political differences to cause any form of violence or other problems capable of throwing the country into crisis.
Obasa applauded the peaceful and credible presidential and national assembly elections and urged residents to ensure a repeat during Saturday’s elections.
It is expected that Lagosians will turn out en masse to vote for their preferred candidates in the gubernatorial and state assembly elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has promised to conduct free, fair, and credible elections.
