The Executive Chairman, Ifelodun Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Mr Olufemi Okeowo has lauded the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the peaceful conduct of the Gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections in the state.
Okeowo gave the commendation with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.
Okeowo noted that the election was peaceful, more than the presidential elections which were violent and full of intimidation of voters in few polling units.
“The election was relatively peaceful and far better than what we had on Feb. 25.
Also, The turnout was more impressive than the first election and INEC prepared very well than in the last election.
“From all the polling units in Ifelodun, I did not receive any crisis in any of our units and in the seven wards that we have here.
“To me, I want to say INEC used the presidential election as a guide to improve on their performance in subsequent elections,” he said.
The chairman also lauded the functionality of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) during the exercise in the local government area, describing it as a wonderful innovation.
According to him, the BVAS machines work better than in the gubernatorial and house of assembly elections; for this, people came out to cast their votes.
He noted that the APC governments had done well, as they used to say that the result of a good job is more job. (NAN)
