Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Managing Director of the Federal Housing Authority and former Lagos East Senator, who was the Senator between 2011 and 2019), was paid a “Thank you visit” by the Agboyi Students Union delegation for his scholarship program on Wednesday.
The visit, which was attended by dignitaries including ex-Kosofe Local Government Vice Chairman Barr. Kazeem Eleshin,Prince Ademola (Chairman, Total Nucleus Group TNG), Alhaji TJ (APC Leader, Ikorodu), Alhaji Rotimi Ishola, and Hon. Saheed Ashiru (TNG Shomolu), saw the delegation laud Senator Ashafa’s contributions to enhancing the quality of life of his constituents during his tenure.
The Convener of the visit, Prince Muyideen Yusuf Olatunji, congratulated Senator Ashafa on his appointment and thanked him for his contributions to national development.
Olatunji also expressed gratitude for the Senator’s support during his tenure, which included a donation of N1.5m to the Agboyi Students Union for the Educational and Social Empowerment of their children in the community.
The funds were put to good use, empowering and supporting over 60 graduates and 50 entrepreneurs from Agboyi Students’ Union, both Indigenes and Non-Indigenes.
Speaking to the Kosofe Post, Senator Ashafa explained that he established the Gbenga Ashafa Training Entrepreneurship (GATE) platform to assist young people who were still in school with their education and small-scale businesses.
He noted that some of those who had been trained were now professionals in their respective fields, while others were still in school.
Senator Ashafa’s scholarship program has yielded outstanding results, with beneficiaries expressing gratitude for the impact it has had on their lives.
The high point of the event was the presentation of Senator Gbenga Ashafa Career Milestones certificates to beneficiaries of the Senator’s scholarship and empowerment programs.
