St. Francis Primary School Among Qualifiers for Lagos Primary School Debate Competition Quarter Finals

St. Francis Primary School, under the Kosofe Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), has successfully advanced to the quarter finals of the All Public Primary Schools in Lagos debate competition. The event, organized by LGNA International in collaboration with the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) and the Irish Embassy Nigeria, aims to promote intellectual development and public speaking skills among primary school students.

CEO Tunde Jakande of LGNA International announced the comprehensive list of primary schools that have qualified for the quarter finals, scheduled for May 22, 2023. Alongside St. Francis Primary School, 11 other public schools from various Local Government Education Authorities across Lagos have secured their spots in this highly anticipated stage of the competition.

Representing the Lagos West region, Agege LGA will be represented by Ibukun Primary School, Orile Primary School, and Ladoja Primary School. Alimosho LGEA will have African Primary School, St. George’s Primary School, and Rauf Aregbesola Primary School vying for a spot in the next round. Monsuru Agoro Primary School will be representing Oshodi LGEA, while Onilekere Primary School, Ikeja Model Primary School, and Oke-Ira Primary School will be the contenders from IKEJA LGEA. La Layeni Primary School and Lagos Model Primary School will represent AJEROMI IFELODUN LGEA, and Army Model Primary School, Sabo Oniba Primary School, and Army Primary School will participate on behalf of OJO LGEA.

In the Lagos Central region, Apapa LGEA will have Method Primary School and United Christian Primary School competing, while Eti-Osa LGA will be represented by Ikuramo Primary School, Lagos Model Primary School, and Obalende Primary School. Lagos Island LGEA will see Holy Cross Primary School, St. Paul Primary School, and St. Cathedral Primary School participating, while Surulere LGEA will be represented by Central Primary School, Elizabeth Fowler Primary School, and Abina Omololu Primary School.

In the Lagos East region, alongside St. Francis Primary School, Mande Maryland, the qualifiers include Pedro Primary School and Adaranijo Primary School, representing SOMOLU LGEA.

The Lagos Debate Competition, a collaborative effort between LGNA International, SUBEB, and the Irish Embassy Nigeria, continues to inspire and empower students by fostering a culture of intellectual engagement and public speaking prowess among primary school pupils. The competition provides a platform for young minds to develop their oratory skills, critical thinking abilities, and self-confidence. By nurturing these skills, the competition plays a vital role in shaping the future leaders and contributors to society.

The quarter finals promise to be an exciting showcase of talent, as the qualified primary schools gear up to display their persuasive abilities and logical reasoning in their quest for the championship.
