Comr Mudashiru Ismaila Alabi, a prominent community leader from Ikosi Isheri Lcda, has appealed to the government to address the pressing issue of flooding in the area by constructing the Ojomo drainage system. Alabi, speaking to the Kosofe Post (KP), expressed deep concern over the annual flood-related hardships faced by residents during the rainy season due to the absence of proper gutter infrastructure.

Alabi highlighted that the lack of a drainage system has resulted in submerged buildings and made life extremely uncomfortable for the community members. He further emphasized that neighboring streets also encounter similar challenges, exacerbating the overall situation during heavy rainfall.

Providing photographic evidence, Alabi showcased the dire condition of Ojomo community, located in the Ikosi Isheri area, which has been heavily affected by flooding due to the absence of a functional drainage system. He further cited Sarumi junction, near Alh Dandama’s house, as another location experiencing similar problems. Alabi appealed to the relevant authorities to urgently intervene and assist the community in overcoming these difficulties.

In an effort to address the concerns raised, a message was sent to Hon. Kehinde Fatoki, the Ikosi Isheri Lcda Supervisor for Environment, requesting information on the steps being taken by the local council to tackle the issue. However, as of the time of filing this report, no response had been received.

The residents of Ikosi Isheri are growing increasingly frustrated with the recurring problem of flooding, as it disrupts daily life and poses risks to the safety and well-being of the community. It is hoped that the appeal made by Comr Mudashiru Ismaila Alabi and the documentation of the challenges faced by Ojomo community will prompt swift action from the appropriate authorities to alleviate the situation.
