Residents, motorists, and commuters along CMD Road in Kosofe, Lagos, are basking in the glow of 200 newly installed solar-powered street lights, courtesy of former Member of the House of Representatives representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye. The project has brought immense joy to the community and is expected to address recurring security challenges in the area.

Speaking with our correspondent, residents expressed deep appreciation for Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye’s efforts in illuminating CMD Road. Loogun Oyekunle Sunday Jegede, a resident of Ikosi Isheri, praised the former lawmaker for continuing the legacy of developmental initiatives even after leaving office. He recalled that the very first street light on CMD Road was installed during the administration of Honourable Kunle Soname, but subsequent governments failed to maintain it. Hon. Agunsoye’s recent initiative has once again brightened the area, providing much-needed security against robberies and attacks.

Jegede highlighted the significance of the solar-powered street lights, noting that previous lighting solutions relied on generators or electricity, which proved costly and required constant maintenance. The solar-powered lights, on the other hand, offer a more sustainable and cost-effective solution while also reducing the chances of vandalism. He urged residents to take ownership of the lights and report any suspicious activities around the posts to enhance security further.

Transporters and tricycle operators also commended the development, expressing optimism that the improved visibility at night would enhance safety for all road users along CMD Road. They believe that Hon. Rotimi Agunsoye’s initiative will help protect lives and properties, making the area more secure and conducive for everyone.
