Lawmaker Babajimi Leads Ongoing Transformation of Ikorodu Through Unprecedented Infrastructure Projects

The Lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency of Lagos State, Hon. Baba Jimi Benson, spearheaded the inspection of the ongoing construction of the Eruwen Road, a pivotal 3.3 km project in Ikorodu. The event took place on Saturday, August 5th, 2023.

Hon. Baba Jimi Benson, renowned for his commitment to community development, has facilitated an array of infrastructure projects across his constituency. The initiatives encompass roads, streetlights, a Mini stadium, hospital facilities, and other crucial amenities that have significantly enhanced the lives of residents.

Accompanied by notable figures including Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Builder Olusesan Daini Chairman of Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA, and Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba Chairman of Ijede LCDA, among others, Hon. Baba Jimi Benson embarked on the inspection of the ongoing construction. Members of the community and iCare foundation were also part of the entourage.

During the inspection, Hon. Baba Jimi Benson remarked, “This is the first phase, they’ve put asphalt on the first 800 meters. It’s a 3.25 km road. The rains have seriously disturbed us. We hope to ramp up. Today they ought to have stone-based further down but you can see it’s raining. So we hope to ramp up and complete it within the next two months.”

He further disclosed the roadmap for future projects, stating, “Once we finish this, we’re looking at going to another road in Ikorodu West, There’s one road that we promised in Ikorodu West about three kilometers. Agbele Road, we are almost completed, we’ve done about 70% of it. It’s open to traffic, there are street lights there. Ori-Okuta, where from here we’ll go to Ori-Okuta, it’s about 3 km.”

Highlighting the role of the Nigerian Army Force in the project, Hon. Benson commended their efforts and competence. He also shared plans for other infrastructure developments, including the construction of a significant reservoir in Isiu and forthcoming projects in Gberigbe, Lambo, Lasunwon, and Ijede.

Addressing the residents, Hon. Baba Jimi Benson emphasized community ownership, stating, “It shouldn’t be the government doing it all. Let them put their money so that in that way they will be able to maintain it and also know that our money is here. So that’s what we’ve advised them.”

Regarding the allocation of commissioners in Governor Babajide Sanwoolu’s Cabinet list, Hon. Benson reassured the people of Ikorodu that efforts were being made to secure more representation. He explained, “People of Ikorodu, we’re all sad about the commissioner’s list. They should all be rest assured that we are fighting. Unfortunately, we’ve just been allotted one and no is a mistake that will be ratified. The governor likes data. The governor likes information. The governor likes communication.”

Residents expressed their appreciation for Hon. Baba Jimi Benson’s transformative efforts, noting the significant positive impact on the community. The Joint Community Development Associations Chairman, Olowoshoke Olaniyi Maxwell, extended gratitude on behalf of the community for the remarkable strides achieved through the lawmaker’s initiatives.
