As part of its efforts to provide relief to residents in the wake of the fuel subsidy removal, Agboyi-Ketu LCDA’s Executive Chairman, Mayor Dele Oshinowo, met with representatives from Touch and Pay Technologies, a fintech company responsible for Cowry cards.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Mayor Dele highlighted the significance of the meeting, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to address the rising transportation costs faced by the community. To this end, the LCDA will soon initiate the distribution of Lagos BRT Cowry Cards to its residents.
The Cowry card is an innovative e-ticketing system, applicable on any Lagos State Government regulated bus. Mayor Dele emphasized that the first phase of the distribution will benefit three hundred individuals, prioritizing those in need. However, the administration aims to expand the program to encompass thousands of residents in subsequent phases.
Mayor Dele reassured residents of the LCDA that more impactful programs are in the pipeline, aiming to bring smiles to their faces during this challenging period as the nation rebuilds.
