Lagos State Governor Declares Work-Free Day for Isese Day 2023 Celebration

In a move to honor the rich cultural heritage of the Yoruba people and commemorate Isese Day 2023, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has officially declared Monday, August 21st, as a work-free day for all public servants within the state.

Isese Day holds a significant place in the hearts of Lagosians as it is a day dedicated to celebrating the indigenous Yoruba culture and traditions, while also fostering the preservation of the Yoruba heritage. This year’s Isese Day celebration is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 20th, 2023.

A circular issued by the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, revealed the details of the commemoration. Governor Sanwo-Olu’s decision to declare a work-free day aligns with his unwavering commitment to offering crucial support to traditional institutions in the state. This effort is aimed at not only promoting the richness of the indigenous culture and traditions but also safeguarding the state’s invaluable heritage.

Following the Isese Day celebration, all state workers are expected to resume their duties promptly on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023, at 8 a.m.
