The Olu of Agboyi Kingdom, Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega, marked the remarkable occasion of his 3rd Coronation Anniversary by unveiling the Olu-Agboyi Multi-Purpose Hall in Agboyi Ketu, Kosofe area of Lagos. The grand event was celebrated with dignitaries, cultural displays, and a shared commitment to community development.
Accompanied by his wife, Olori Fatimah Oladega, and esteemed guests including representatives of Agboyi Ketu LCDA, the monarch took center stage to inaugurate the newly constructed edifice. The theme of the event, “Impact of Peace and Unity in Community Development,” was underscored by captivating drama performances showcasing Agboyi’s cultural heritage and traditions.
During his address to the gathering, Oba Oladega expressed heartfelt gratitude and humility, emphasizing the significance of the occasion. He stated, “This occasion marks not only the third anniversary of my reign as the 4th Olu of Agboyi but also the unveiling of the remarkable Ultra Modern Town Hall and the Inauguration of the Town Hall Committee which stands for unity and progress that define the community.”
Oba Oladega acknowledged the vital role played by Princess Adejoke Orelope, the Immediate past Special Adviser on SDGs to Former President Muhammad Buhari, in facilitating the project. He commended her contributions in advancing both Aworiland and Lagos State at large, highlighting the collaboration between federal and local governance.
The monarch extended his gratitude to the Osugbo institutions, his wife Olori Fatimah Oladega, his chiefs, and the entire Agboyi kingdom for their unwavering support over the past three years. He also praised Governor Babajide Sanwoolu for his effective approach to managing traditional institutions and Mayor Dele Oshinowo for his dedication to enhancing the welfare of the council areas.
Oba Oladega emphasized the united spirit of Agboyi’s sons and daughters, irrespective of their roles as landlords or tenants, as the driving force behind the community’s success. He stated that the newly christened Olu-Agboyi Multi-Purpose Hall stands as a testament to their collective efforts and shared vision for progress.
He closed his address by reminding all present of the power of unity and collaboration in achieving greatness. “The journey we embarked on together reflects the values that define us as Agboyi – the value of respect, unity, and progress,” the monarch affirmed.
The management committee of the Town Hall was inaugurated by Oba Oladega, with an oath of office administered by Hon. Fatai Ganiu. The event concluded with heartfelt gratitude extended to various dignitaries and a communal commitment to the continued growth and development of Agboyi Kingdom.
Venerable Israel Tunde Owoyele praised the monarch’s strides, including the facilitation of a new wooden bridge and the ongoing Agboyi link bridge. He offered prayers for the monarch’s protection and a long reign.
Oloruba of Oruba of Agboyi ll, HRM Oba Adesegun Lamina, delivered the vote of thanks, lauding the monarch’s efforts in fostering unity, progress, and development. He expressed appreciation to all the monarchs, white cap chiefs, Baales, and dignitaries who graced the event.
