Hon. Tunde Soneye, the Executive Secretary of the Local Government Education Authority in Kosofe, Lagos, was honored with a prestigious recognition award for his outstanding contributions to the growth and development of basic schools in the region. The award presentation took place at the SUBEB complex in Maryland, Kosofe, on Friday, where Hon. Demola Osibajo, representing the Asiwaju Initiative Group, presented the accolade.
In an interview with Kosofe Post following the award presentation, Hon. Tunde Soneye expressed gratitude for the recognition and pledged to continue his efforts to enhance education in Kosofe throughout his life.
One of the key topics addressed by Hon. Soneye was the upcoming school resumption, scheduled for Monday, September 4. He assured that extensive preparations had been made to ensure a smooth return to classrooms. “All of our schools are in 100% readiness for resumption,” he stated, highlighting the cleanliness, classroom organization, and overall preparedness of the public schools in Lagos State.
Regarding the recent removal of fuel subsidies, Hon. Soneye empathized with private school parents who might face challenges returning their children to their preferred schools. He emphasized that public schools were fully prepared to accommodate these students, with adequate classrooms, furniture, and qualified teachers across the state. He urged parents to consider enrolling their children in public schools, emphasizing that they provided quality education and infrastructure.
Furthermore, Hon. Soneye highlighted efforts to address the issue of out-of-school children in Lagos State. He introduced “Project Zero,” a program designed by the State Universal Basic Education Board to locate and enroll out-of-school children. The initiative not only provides them with essential school supplies but also encourages their participation in education rather than engaging in street activities.
Hon. Soneye reminds parents of their critical role in their children’s education and called for their cooperation in molding well-rounded individuals. He urged parents to inform their children that school activities would resume fully on Monday and that teachers were prepared for their return.
