In a recent interview with the Publisher of Kosofe Post, Mr Tunde Soneye, the Education Secretary of the Kosofe Government Education Authority in Kosofe Local Government, Lagos State, addressed the prevailing misconceptions held by parents and the community about public primary schools. Soneye emphasized that education in Lagos State has made significant strides, surpassing the outdated notions surrounding public schools.

According to Soneye, parents who continue to struggle to enroll their children in private schools are wasting their time. He stressed that the public primary schools in Lagos State have achieved commendable standards of education, contrary to popular belief. As an administrator, he attested to the fact that these schools are excelling in providing quality education to their pupils.

Soneye proudly highlighted the ongoing school activities in Kosofe, particularly the implementation of a groundbreaking methodology called ‘Eko Excel,’ initiated by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. This approach aims to achieve excellence in child education and learning. As part of this program, teachers are equipped with tablets that contain all the necessary course content. These tablets are preloaded with materials for daily and weekly lessons, allowing teachers to study topics in advance before teaching their students.

The education secretary emphasized that this innovation has relieved teachers from the burden of extensive lesson note writing. Additionally, administrators now have the ability to monitor teachers’ activities, including their presence in school, using these tablets. This technology also facilitates tracking the head teachers and their whereabouts. Soneye encouraged parents to visit public schools in the state, assuring them of well-structured facilities and a conducive learning environment where teachers are dedicated to their profession and students are well-guided.
