They also seized the opportunity to celebrate the recent victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the election petition tribunal.
In a gracious response, Basiru expressed his gratitude for their visit and assured them of his dedicated commitment to working closely with them to fortify the party’s foundations. He also extended his felicitations to the State Secretaries on the remarkable achievement of one of their colleagues, the APC Lagos State Secretary, who was recently appointed as the Lagos State Commissioner for Regional Integration.
Alhaji Abdullahi Maigari, the leader of the State Secretaries, commended Basiru as a “real democrat and icon of progressive politics in Nigeria.” He lauded Basiru’s accessibility and political acumen, underscoring his invaluable contributions to the party.
Basiru, in his address, emphasized the pivotal role played by State Secretaries as the “powerhouse” of the party in their respective states. He advocated for the establishment of functional party secretariats at every level, from states down to the 774 local government areas and wards across the nation.
Furthermore, Basiru assured the State Secretaries of unwavering support from the National Working Committee, led by HE Abdullahi Ganduje, emphasizing their commitment to advancing the APC’s objectives.
This visit serves as a clear demonstration of the unity and determination of APC State Secretaries to work hand in hand with the National Secretary, strengthening the party’s position and ensuring victory in upcoming elections.
