Various stakeholders gathered at the 14th Anniversary of LGNA in Lagos State to commend the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tunde Jakande, for his exemplary role in training over 1,075 public officers. The commendation emphasized the crucial impact of LGNA’s efforts in promoting good governance and public accountability.
Dr Monsurat Olaitan, the Head of Human Resources at Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) and one of the guest speakers, expressed her gratitude for LGNA’s outstanding work in capacity building. She highlighted the importance of continuous learning in a rapidly changing world, commending Mr Tunde Jakande for spearheading programs that contribute to ongoing professional development.
Olaitan, who was also among the awardees, stressed the significance of unlearning outdated knowledge to make room for continuous learning. She particularly applauded Mr Jakande for recognizing the need for continuous development, especially in the dynamic public space.
Former Special Representative of the President of ECOWAS Commission in Liberia, Ambassador Babatunde Ajisomo, lauded the 14-year commitment to training public officers at the local government level. He called for increased support from both public and private organizations to further LGNA’s objectives in fostering discipline and accountability.
Dr Senukon Olufunmi Ajose-Harrison, a retired Director-General of the Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre (PSSDC), echoed the sentiment that Mr Tunde Jakande’s vision extends beyond mere empowerment to envisioning a new Nigeria. Ajose-Harrison emphasized the importance of instilling responsibilities and hope in the citizens, praising Mr Jakande’s dedication to training programs that shape a responsible and accountable leadership.
Ajose-Harrison encouraged the youth to view present challenges as temporary, urging them not to give up on the country.
