In the wake of Hon. Dekeri Anamero’s revelation about President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Christmas gesture to members of the House of Representatives, questions and concerns have emerged among Kosofe Constituents.
The video shared by Hon. Anamero displayed the two trailers of rice and other items he received through the Presidency for his constituents. This disclosure triggered inquiries into the distribution of the allocated rice and grains among House members for the festive season.
Michael Chibuzo, who shared the appreciation video, asserted that President Tinubu ordered the Ministry of Agriculture to allocate 100 million Naira worth of rice and other grains to each of the 360 House of Representatives members. He questioned whether members of the House and Senators shared these items accordingly with their constituents.
Prominent APC member Adeniyi Adefemi, also known as ROYAL, from Ifako-Gbadaga area in Kosofe, reported that the Youth of the party in Ward C received 4 bags of 50kg Rice, with each youth getting 3 Derica of rice. Adefemi rhetorically questioned when Nigerians would move beyond the tradition of receiving only 3 cups of rice.
In response, he emphasized the need for continuous empowerment rather than token gifts. Adefemi called for uplifting thousands of Kosofe Youth above the poverty level and urged leaders to invest more in the youth.
Comrade Olayiwola Sulaiman Opomulero criticized the gesture, stating that such actions reduce the seriousness of politics and governance. He noted that while the politicians enjoy luxury, the citizens receive minimal benefits like bags or Derica of rice.
President Taiwo Lasisi of Taawun Political Forum in Kosofe/Ikeja LGs, expressed concern over the distribution of a meager amount of rice by elected representatives. He warned of the potential negative impact on the future of the youths and criticized the politicians for using such gestures to perpetuate themselves in office.
The Kosofe Post continues to monitor developments, awaiting clarification from Hon. Kafilat Ogbara on the allocation to Kosofe and open appreciation to the president.
