Ore-Ofe Community Development Area (CDA)
in the Ikosi-Isheri Local Government Development Area proudly unveiled a newly constructed 300-meter concrete road on Thursday in a proactive move to address the deteriorating state of their roads. The N4.7 million project was funded through contributions from dedicated residents of the area.
Chairman of Ore-Ofe CDA, Barr. Olatunde Fawibe, emphasized the dire condition of the previous road, causing distress for commuters and motorists alike. Fawibe expressed gratitude for the community’s unity, stating, “As a responsible community, we decided to come together because we cannot continue to be spending so much money on our vehicles due to the horrible road.”
Highlighting the challenges faced during the rainy season, Fawibe explained that the slippery surface often led to accidents and inconvenience for residents. He underscored the importance of community-led initiatives, noting that despite government efforts, local contributions were crucial for addressing immediate concerns.
However, Fawibe revealed that there’s more work to be done, with approximately 750 meters of road still awaiting construction. He urged the state and local governments to intervene, seeking support to complete the remaining stretch by March. Fawibe envisioned a collaborative effort, stating, “Residents in the community will have the rest of mind that half of the road is motorable.”
General Secretary of Ore-Ofe CDC and Member of State CDAC, Chief Farotade Benson, praised the CDA’s determination to see the project through, emphasizing the longevity of the concrete road. Adebenson optimistically stated that the community was on track to complete other pending projects soon.
Baale of Otun-Araromi in Ikosi-Isheri LCDA, High Chief Lukman Gbadamosi, echoed the call for government assistance. Gbadamosi urged both local and state authorities to fulfill promises made during campaigns, emphasizing the community’s need for support in constructing the remaining roads in the council. The completion of these projects, he asserted, would improve the lives of residents in the area.
