A jubilant atmosphere engulfed the Agboyi community on February 18, 2024, as the Olu Agboyi-in-council organized a magnificent celebration to honor the upcoming 60th birthday of HRM Oba Monsuru Abimbola Oladega.
The event, meticulously orchestrated by the council, aimed to foster unity and camaraderie among indigenous and non-indigenous members of the community, as they came together to celebrate their esteemed monarch.
Commencing with a solemn opening prayer led by the Oluwo of Agboyi Kingdom, the festivities unfolded with a retrospective narration of the throne’s illustrious history, dating back to 1956. A significant highlight was the announcement of a JAMB scholarship program for underprivileged students from the community, generously sponsored by His Royal Majesty, reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the welfare and development of his people.
The celebration reached its zenith with a captivating display of cultural performances by the community’s youth, who dazzled attendees with traditional dances and songs, infusing the gathering with joy and excitement. The king and queen gracefully joined in the revelry, showcasing their rhythmic prowess alongside enthusiastic participants.
Amidst heartfelt messages of goodwill from esteemed well-wishers, expressing admiration and gratitude towards the monarch’s exemplary leadership, the occasion was punctuated by memorable moments, including a photo session capturing the essence of the celebration and the presentation of thoughtful gifts to the monarch.
The festivities culminated in a lively musical performance by the renowned Awori ambassador musician, Ayilara, which reverberated through the air, leaving an indelible mark on all those in attendance.
As Olu Agboyi, Oba Engr MAO Oladega, expressed his gratitude to the community for their unwavering support and prayers, he pledged renewed commitment to their welfare and development. He extended heartfelt appreciation to his Olori and family members for their steadfast support.
