In preparation for the upcoming 2025 Local Government Chairmanship and Councilorship elections in Lagos State, Governor Babajide Sanwoolu has administered the oath of office to Mrs. Oki Lyla Morenike, appointing her as the Permanent Secretary for the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
Joining Mrs. Oki Lyla Morenike in this significant appointment are several other newly appointed Permanent Secretaries: Engr. Somide Lateef Ayodele (Office of Infrastructure), Engr. Adegbite Mahmood Olakunle (Office of Drainage Services), Mr. Emmanuel Fatai Audu (Ministry of Agriculture), and Surv. Ayokunnu Adeshina Sikiru (Surveyor-General Office).
Governor Sanwoolu also took the opportunity to promote five Directors within the State’s civil service to the esteemed position of Permanent Secretary. Encouraging them to leverage their expertise and experience, Governor Sanwoolu emphasized the critical role they play in enhancing service delivery and meeting the expectations of the residents, particularly during challenging economic times.
In her new role as LASIEC Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Oki Lyla Morenike has been entrusted with the responsibility of ensuring professionalism and efficiency in the administration of smooth, credible, free, and fair local government elections in the state. She has pledged to commence planning for the council polls promptly, in accordance with the LASIEC Act 2017 as amended.

With the LASIEC Chairman and Permanent Secretary at the helm, all necessary measures are expected to be put in place ahead of the 2025 Local Government Elections across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of Lagos State.
