Following the inauguration held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the State Management Meeting of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) held at Agboyi Ketu LCDA, a new committee has been established to oversee the organization of the council’s elections in Lagos State.
The inauguration ceremony, officiated by the state Legal Adviser, Comrade Akinyemi Rafiat Omolola Esq., saw the induction of four members into the committee. Comrade Saliu Adekunle represented Lagos East, Comrade Onifade Sodiq for Lagos Central, Comrade Kuku Mutiu for Lagos West, and Mr. Olukosi Julius as the representative from the Ministry of Youth.
In adherence to the constitutional provisions of the NYCN of 2018 as amended, the committee members were granted the authority to select their chairman and secretary. This pivotal decision was made during the committee’s inaugural meeting held on March 13, 2024, at the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Alausa, Lagos. Saliu Adekunle emerged as the Chairman of the committee and assumed the role of the Chief Electoral Officer.
The primary responsibility bestowed upon the newly formed committee is to orchestrate the election process for the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter. As the tenure of the current officeholders draws to a close, the committee is tasked with ensuring a smooth transition of power through a transparent and democratic electoral process.
