In a bid to modernize its operations and combat malpractice, the National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced the digitalization of its recruitment process for examination Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors. This development, revealed in a statement by Azeez Sani, Acting Director of Information and Digital Communication, aims to enhance efficiency and curb sharp practices in the selection process.
Under the new system, prospective supervisors for both the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) Internal and External will undergo an online recruitment process. This marks a significant departure from the manual method previously employed by the Council.
The digitalization process encompasses various aspects of recruitment, including the generation of supervisors’ nomination forms, appointment letters, and e-photo albums—all managed through an online platform. Additionally, the routine swapping of supervisors and assistant supervisors during examinations will now be facilitated digitally, streamlining administrative procedures.
Qualified teachers with NCE, Degree Certificates, Masters Degrees, PhDs, and even Professors are encouraged to apply for roles as Supervisors and Assistant Supervisors for either the BECE or SSCE Internal or External examinations. This move underscores NECO’s commitment to transparency and efficiency in its operations.
Previously reliant on manual recruitment methods, NECO’s transition to digital processes signifies a progressive step towards modernization and accountability in the education sector.
