Following a revalidated court order on December 5th, 2023, the trio of Onikoro, Oshorun Onikosi has taken possession of the Odo Ogun land, marking a significant development in a long-standing dispute.
A signpost erected by the Sheriffs of Court on the contested land bears the inscription: “The Judgement in suit No ld/117/1936 delivered on 1st February, 1937, which is registered as No 16 at Page 16 in Volume 2116 in the Land Registry Lagos and which judgment was revalidated by the Order of Court on 5th December 2023; Possession was taken today by Sheriffs of Court. This move comes after legal action taken by the Onikoro, Oshorun Onikosi family to assert their ownership rights over the land, which had been the subject of contention. Notably, plans for the proposed Odo Ogun Royal Castle by a Chinese investor had been put on hold due to the legal dispute initiated by the landowning family.
Kosofe Post has learned that the Onikoro, Oshorun Onikosi family is open to an amicable settlement with various parties involved, including the investor. This indicates a willingness to resolve the dispute through dialogue and negotiation rather than prolonged legal battles.
